This 2-year master's is ideal if you didn't graduate in civil engineering, but have maths and physics skills. You’ll spend your first year studying key topics and improving your knowledge to prepare for your second year, when you’ll join the full-time MSc Civil Engineering course.
You'll learn the skills to solve problems in building design, water supply, infrastructure, structural and bridge engineering, geotechnical engineering, and earthquake engineering. This one-year master's is ideal for those with an undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering, providing you with a sound understanding of civil engineering design and applications. You may also have an opportunity to carry out a research project whilst undertaking an 11-month industrial work placement.

At least an upper second class honours BEng or BSc degree (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering, science or technology subject is required for entry. Relevant engineering, science or technology subject are those in numerate and/or scientific disciplines related to engineering (e.g. physics, mathematics, chemistry, geology). All applicants will need to demonstrate their competence at mathematics or physics. This would normally be either through the successful completion of mathematics modules as part of their first degree or completion of A-level mathematics or physics.
