Summary
This is a multi-disciplinary programme which develops and enhances the knowledge, skills and competence of health and social care professionals who come into contact with patients who have palliative and end of life care needs.
You will develop the knowledge, skills, and competence to provide compassionate and person-centred care and will be provided with the capacity to take responsibility for advancing professional development to address constantly changing palliative care demands.
Your core study programme will include the principles of palliative and end of life care, advanced symptom management and advanced methods in research and development in health and social care. You can then choose to specialise in areas such as person-centred practice, leadership in professional practice and professional decision-making and accountability.
To gain the Masters award, a further 60 credits must be completed in the form of a dissertation project.

Entry requirements | Applicants must hold a primary degree, or equivalent, or demonstrate their ability to undertake the course through the accreditation of prior experiential learning. In addition to the above, applicants should normally have: a. successfully completed an undergraduate research module (or equivalent learning) b. an appropriate qualification relevant to the programme; health professionals must hold UK Registration c. current experience with patients relevant to the palliative care programme; and d. provide evidence of competence in written and spoken English.
