The MSc Business Management (with pathways) gives you the skills and knowledge you need to be an effective manager in increasingly uncertain and technology-dominated environments. You'll also have the option of completing a placement year to put your knowledge and skills gained in the programme into action.

Why study MSc Business Management with Pathways - This Masters will equip you with practical and conceptual skills to perform different kinds of management roles in diverse types of organisations such as large corporations, entrepreneurial businesses, non-profits and government agencies.

  • Teaching is practice-oriented and aims to introduce you to different perspectives on real-world organisational problems, strategic approaches, decision-making conundrums, diverse contexts, organisations and environments.

  • We’ll help to shape you into a future leader with practical skills and theoretical knowledge to sustainably lead their organisations.

  • You’ll collaborate with corporations and non-profits who are involved in programme development and delivery.

  • You’ll learn from managers and other business professionals through guest lectures and exciting department events.

  • You’ll gain an in-depth understanding of organisations as we explore the latest research from management theory, organisation theory, strategic management, sociology and economics, translating them to simple applicable skills you can use in your future management career.

  • You’ll gain an understanding of the influential role that managers play in shaping society and the environment.

Pathways What’s unique about this degree, is that it gives you the option to specialise in particular areas of management through our different pathways. These pathways include:

  • The Business Management general pathway will prepare you to assume any kind of management role, including CEO, in diverse types of organisations.

  • The Marketing pathway will prepare you for management roles, including CMO, in marketing departments of large organisations, marketing agencies, non-profits or entrepreneurial businesses.

  • The Innovation pathway teaches you the fundamental knowledge and skills required for managing product and brand or policy development, service delivery, or integration of emerging technologies in fast-paced industries.

  • The Entrepreneurship pathway will teach you the skills necessary to manage small and/or fast-growing entrepreneurial businesses, including family businesses, technology start-ups and other types of new ventures.

  • The Talent management pathway will prepare you for management roles in Human Resources departments, organisational culture champion roles and talent development roles.

Placement year You can choose to undertake an optional second placement year, which will give you the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills gained in the first year of study. The placement is not guaranteed. Students will have the opportunity to apply for placement opportunities provided by the Careers Service or independently acquire a placement.
