The course is designed to provide students with detailed knowledge of direct relevance to the modern forest manager.

Only international students who have been awarded a CSC scholarship are eligible to study on this course; applicants are expected to have at least an upper 2nd Class degree in a relevant subject (forestry, conservation, land management, natural sciences, economics); candidates with lower qualifications (e.g. lower 2nd Class degree or professional qualifications) who have sufficient, relevant work experience may also be considered.
Modules include: agroforestry systems (20 credits); forest inventory, assessment and monitoring (20 credits); sustainable use of non-timber forest products (20 credits); location specific knowledge (15 credits); joint summer module (study tour) (15 credits); contemporary tropical forests and climate change: the science, the policy and the practice (10 credits); social issues in forest management (20 credits); MSc dissertation (60 credits).
