Based within our Westminster Law School our research programme in law supports work within the core areas of law including commercial, banking and corporate law; criminal and comparative law; EU law and competition law; international law; human rights; entertainment, media and intellectual property law; international trade law; public law; and maritime and transport law. We also support work within interdisciplinary fields such as law and geography; law and literature; law and philosophy; law and society; law, gender and sexuality. We especially welcome applications that encourage an interdisciplinary and critical approach to research.

Applicants should have a minimum classification of 2.1 in their first degree or equivalent and and a master's degree with merit or distinction with 65% or above in their dissertation. Applicants whose first degree has not been studied in English should have IELTS 6.5 overall and 6.0 in all elements. Submissions for this award will consist of a coherent body of work which is of the same quality, rigour and volume as required of a standard PhD in your field and which constitutes an original contribution to knowledge. Publications considered appropriate for this route can include books and book chapters, refereed journal papers. The body of work may not include any material produced more than ten years before the date of submission. Applicants need to submit a research proposal of 2000 words which should include a list of applicant's publications with dates, word count, percentage of contribution for any collaborative work and confirmation from co-authors of this percentage. References are normally required and if not provided with your application will be requested at a later date.
