The University of Westminster is a vibrant international education institution with a distinguished history dating back to 1838. With three campuses in the heart of Central London (Cavendish, Marylebone and Regent) and one in Harrow, it is home to almost 19,000 students from 169 countries, among them over 4,000 postgraduate students.
The first polytechnic in London the University of Westminster continues to offer practical, rounded education to students from a wide range of backgrounds. Our academic research is recognised both in and outside of academia, with two-thirds of our work being awarded world-leading or internationally excellent scores in the Research Excellence Framework (REF). We are recognised for our wide range of research in areas including Art and Design, Law and Media and our academic experts have contributed to world-leading research in Breast Cancer and the Ebola Virus, amongst others. We are home to The Centre for Research and Education in Arts and Media (CREAM), one of the leading UK centres for research in Visual and Media Arts, Design and Music.
The importance of real-world experience is at the heart of our teaching, helping you to gain the skills, knowledge and connections necessary to build your chosen career. The University of Westminster is accredited by and has relationships with a number of professional organisations including RIBA, CIPD, ACCA and CIM. Our award-winning Careers and Employability Service offers a growing network of organisations and recruiters, providing placement and work experience opportunities and enriching our mentoring scheme. Our London location means that students can benefit from our strong links with employers across all industries, and we host a variety of career fairs and networking events for all career paths.
Accommodation and facilities
We offer a range of student accommodation for postgraduate students across four halls of residence, based in central London and Harrow. Our accommodation provides excellent facilities, 24/7 security and high speed broadband services.
We have invested more than £125 million in refurbishing our campuses. From laboratories and libraries to studios and computer suites, you will be able to take advantage of the latest cutting-edge technology and resources.
The University of Westminster offers a wide range of more than 100 postgraduate taught courses in several areas: Architecture and Cities; Accounting and Finance; Art and Design; Business and Management; Computer Science and Engineering; Economics; Humanities; Law; Life Sciences; Media and Communication and Social Sciences. Many of our courses start both in January and September, providing greater flexibility for entry.
Partnered with Kaplan International College, we also provide pre-university preparation courses that offer entry to our Masters.
Support for international students
We provide a range of support for International students, from pre-application through to arrival. This includes a network of overseas representatives providing support during the application process, visits of our staff to your country, pre-departure counselling, Airport Meet and Greet and the International Students Welcome Programmes.
Once here, you can access a range of study, personal and employment guidance. Our services include the Careers and Employability Service, Counselling, English language support and the Students’ Union. Our Student Advice team are also on hand to provide specialist advice and support on a range of topics from student finance to visas and immigration.
