Summary

UCAS Code Secondary Drama with QTS (PGCE): 3CM5

Newly accredited for 20-19, Yr Athrofa is offering a Secondary PGCE Drama Pathway.

As part of the Expressive Arts Area of Learning and Experience (along with art, music, dance, film and digital media), you will develop pupils’ imaginative and creative thinking, appreciation faculties, as well as their artistic and performance skills and communicative dispositions.

University modules develop knowledge of the Drama curriculum across the secondary age-range and you will develop your skills of critical reflection and high-quality pedagogy.

We consider Drama to be an inter-connected subject with strong links to cross-curricular ways of working – you will be able to consider how this can be implemented as a whole school approach to explore particular issues and dilemmas.

This an important element of the course in the context of exciting education reforms in Wales and allows you to develop your subject expertise within and beyond the discipline.

In addition, it highlights the importance of Drama in helping young people to become ambitious, creative and ethical citizens.

Excellent subject knowledge, passion for education and an ability to adapt to a professional role are essential requirements for this secondary pathway.
