Summary
The Data Literacy for Social and Environmental Justice programme develops core skills in data literacy (including spatial data science), science communication, and public engagement. The programme is ideal for professionals currently working on questions of social and environmental justice, those looking to shift career trajectory, or recent graduates seeking additional training before (re)entering the workforce.
The Data Literacy for Social and Environmental Justice course is an online self-paced programme, with options to study for a PGCert, PGDip or an MSc.
Highlights - You will gain a solid conceptual foundation for understanding how quantitative data are used (and abused) in the interest of social and environmental causes.

You will learn basic data literacy and analysis, including the option to build skills in advanced quantitative methods and spatial data sciences.

You will strengthen your science communication skills and ability to engage with publics and policy makers to increase your impact potential.

As well as being taught through traditional methods, including lectures and workshops, you will also be encouraged to interact with your lecturers and other students through live Q&A sessions and asynchronous online forums.

If you studied your first degree outside the UK, see the international entry requirements. We will also consider applicants who do not have an undergraduate degree. In these circumstances we expect candidates to have at least five years of relevant professional learning. The Admissions team will holistically assess your application and determine the best route of entry for you. In some cases, this may be onto the PGCert in the first instance where students will have the opportunity to progress and graduate with a full Masters degree. Students are also required to have a desired level of English language proficiency. See English language tests and qualifications. The qualifications listed are indicative minimum requirements for entry. Some academic Schools will ask applicants to achieve significantly higher marks than the minimum.
