Summary
Through the detailed exploration of a range of topics and texts from the period, the programme aims to enhance students’ textual knowledge and promote thinking about the interconnections between modern and contemporary literature and its historical, cultural and theoretical context. Students study both the modern and the contemporary period, focusing on the 1st period in semester 1 and the 2nd in semester 2. In each semester students will take a module that concentrates on the literature of the period, and a module that engages with the period’s theoretical, cultural and historical developments.
