This pathway will be particularly useful for those who wish to take on a leadership role in education in the future.

Entry requirements | You may be offered a place on an MA Education programme provided you meet all of the requirements listed. If you are in the process of completing or achieving these requirements, then a conditional offer may be made pending satisfactory completion of the offer requirements. 1. You hold, or are predicted to achieve, a 2.1 UK honours degree or equivalent non-UK qualification normally in Education Studies, or Education Studies with another subject. Other subjects will be accepted if you can demonstrate in your professional experience and personal statement that you have an active interest in education and an appropriate level of professional experience. 2.You present appropriate evidence of a minimum of one year, full-time equivalent, of professional experience working as an educator. This may include teaching and/or training in any subject or age phase or setting, coaching and/or mentoring in an educational setting, or working in education management or policy. You must have professional experience in the practical application of education, and have led and delivered educational activity. You must supply one reference from a suitable person in authority who can confirm the extent, range and quality of your professional experience to the satisfaction of the Admissions Team. 3. You present a personal statement that details your rationale for applying for the MA Education programme. It should explain your motivations for taking the programme, and present evidence from your professional experience that indicates how this makes you a suitable candidate for the programme. Evidence must be realistic and believable, so should identify the educational setting, the dates the professional experience occurred, the nature of the professional experience and what kind of roles and responsibilities you held during this professional experience. 4. International applicants must hold IELTS 6.5 overall with no element less than 6.0 (or equivalent). Due to the popularity of this programme and the importance of teaching at the start of term, applications must be received by 1 August 2022 for entry in September 2022. Applications received after this date will only be considered for the following year. |

Aimed at ambitious educational leaders and future leaders, this master's course is designed to be flexible to meet the needs of busy professionals and to reflect your own interests. This course is offered on both a full-time and part-time basis.
Up-to-date research evidence supports and underpins everything we do, helping you to deepen your understanding of teaching and learning. You will analyse the key concepts in educational leadership and management theory within the context of an ever-changing political climate and increasing accountability.
The course also provides an excellent foundation to doctoral studies in education, or as a stepping stone to our successful part-time Professional Doctorate in Education (EdD).
At the Institute of Education, we recognise the uniqueness of every student and we address our teaching to suit your individual needs. Your tutors are internationally or nationally renowned experts, and their research regularly has a direct impact on school curricula and learning techniques — both in the UK and abroad. As experts in their field, their research also directly informs the focus and content of your course.
Our teaching is interactive, experiential and innovative. We utilise a wide variety of technologies to enhance your learning, including use of presentation tools, interactive whiteboards, mixed media, social media and mobile technologies in our teaching, and screen capture in assessment.
**Facilities**
The Institute of Education is based on our historic London Road campus, which has undergone a £30m refurbishment of the classical Oxford-cloistered quadrangle to create a dedicated world-class education centre.
We have created custom-built spaces for the teaching of specialist subjects, including:
- modern laboratories
- musical studios, including an electronic drum kit room and a recording studio
- well-equipped art studios and facilities for the practise of work in drawing, painting, sculpture and mixed media
- studios for wet photography and printmaking, including silk screen.
Alongside these fantastic facilities, you will also find places to eat and drink, as well as plenty of green space to relax in.
**The Learning Hub**
We have an incredible collection of teaching and research resources housed in the Learning Hub. A treasure trove for teachers and researchers, the Learning Hub contains an extensive selection of teaching aids for loan or reference, from big books to puppets. A printing and binding facility, and technical equipment library are also available for your use.
**Research**
The quality of our research was recognised in the latest Research Excellence Framework (2014), the system for assessing the quality of research in UK higher education institutions, which placed the Institute of Education in the top quartile of Education departments in the UK.
Over 80% of our research publications were rated as world leading or internationally excellent. The impact of our research on educational policy and practice in first and second language education was judged to be world leading.
