Summary
Whether you’re planning a career with a major accountancy firm in the UK or internationally, this course helps prepare you by developing your critical understanding of the internationalisation of accounting and specific aspects of corporate finance. The course will provide you with key insights, with an emphasis on critical evaluation of financial regulation and transparency.
The programme is supported with our new state-of-the-art Trading Room which is equipped with professional software, providing up-to-date market data and financial analysis tools giving students a feel for how to deal responsibly with financial and economic market data. The Trading Room provides simulation of what it is like to work in the financial industry and provide experience of a real life financial markets environment, thus enhancing your experience and employability.
The course provides an additional 6-month professional practice placement opportunity at the end of the 12 month taught programme. This allows students with limited experience to put the skills and techniques developed throughout the Master’s degree into practice. This option would be of particular interest to international students.
'This Masters programme will provide you with the analytical, problem-solving and decision making skills needed for careers in accounting and financial management. Our academic staff are research active and specialists in their subject areas.', 'This course provides you with the skills to help you design, build and innovate in modern finance and banking. Current business organisations will require skills which are a combination of financial awareness and a strong grasp of technology. This is an innovative course designed to develop your skills for a potential career in the fintech industry, combining financial theory, big data management, analytics and data visualisation with a view to support large and small companies who are developing solutions through the use of these disruptive technologies.' ~ Dr Shabbir Dastgir, Course Leader
