Summary
Explore continental philosophy and the role it has in the twenty-first century, combined with the very latest academic debates in literary studies.
You can study philosophical approaches and their significance within the context of recent scientific developments, as well as the role of the imagination in philosophy and its significance within recent social, literary and cultural contexts.
You can also tailor your studies by choosing from a wide range of modules in Scottish and Irish literature, Medieval and Renaissance literature, eighteenth and nineteenth-century literature and modern and contemporary literature.
We host work-in-progress seminars as a forum for you to present and discuss your work, and you are also invited to contribute to our annual Humanities Postgraduate Conference and to get involved in our postgraduate community.
Through the activities of the Scottish Centre for Continental Philosophy, the Scottish Centre for Critical and Creative Cultures, and the Centre for Poetic Innovation you will be able to attend regular research seminars, with papers given by invited international and UK speakers.
We also have recognised strengths in book history and publishing, authorship studies, and visual culture. Our research culture thrives on investigating the creative relationships between literature and film, poetry and theatre, word and image.
