Study type Taught

Develop your skills and learn about fixed and removable prosthodontics in order to become competent in the care of patients needing dental rehabilitation.

During the course, you will practise your clinical skills by recreating patient journeys for your virtual patients, documented by photographs.

These virtual patients have received dental rehabilitation using:

  • a conformative, and re-organised occlusal scheme

  • a fixed/removable prosthodontic approach

  • provision of full prostheses

After your tooth preparations, you will help fabricate the restorations, sometimes using digital technology to do so. You will take photographs and record the treatment given, and reflect on questions asked about it.

In addition to this, you will discuss the care of other patients (‘short’ and ‘long cases’), again all illustrated by photographs and vignettes.

Your work will be supervised by senior dental staff. In the first year you will be allocated to care for patients for two sessions each week, increasing to a third optional session in the second year. You will also attend consultant clinics in both years of your study.
