Course overview - Child Computer Interaction is a new and growing branch of Human Computer Interaction. There is an increasing need for specialists who can research, design and evaluate interactive technology for children. This research-based course enables you to explore this fascinating field.

Child Computer Interaction is the key area of research expertise for the University’s internationally-known Child Computer Interaction Group (ChiCI), On this course you’ll develop specialist skills by working closely with this research group.

To give you just a few examples of the kinds of research you’re likely to be engaged in, ChiCI have recently investigated the integration of digital technologies into museum visits; the use of multi-touch surfaces in classrooms as programmable learning platforms; and the use of text input and digital ink in the context of improving children’s writing. The group have also hosted international conferences.

This course offers the ideal preparation for a research-focused career in an exciting and rapidly-advancing field. Most students on this course will likely advance onto PhD study or progress into employment as Child Computer Interaction experts.

Entry requirements | Specific entry requirements for the course are a recognised British Honours degree (or its equivalent) in a relevant subject (computing, technology or technical design), with a 1 or 2.1 (or equivalent). Students will be expected to display communication skills appropriate to an Honours graduate. In particular, students whose first language is not English will be required to demonstrate competence in the language. The normal minimum standard required is IELTS 6.5 or equivalent. Applications from all candidates will be considered on their merits. |
