Summary
By taking our programme you’ll become a leader in Adolescent Sports Medicine. We’ll teach you evidence-based practice to deliver safe and effective care to young athletes engaging in sport. Our course includes a contemporary collection of modules and optional modules to suit practitioners who are already working with young athletes or are wanting to work in this field. We’ll enhance your skills with designing young athlete development programmes and management of common adolescent and growth-related injuries. The programme is designed for general practitioners, physiotherapists, sports therapists, sports rehabilitators and strength and conditioning coaches.

Our course has been developed with feedback from clinical partners and alumni. You’ll be taught by applied and research leading industry experts who currently work in the field of Sports Medicine from grass roots sports to National team youth level.
What you'll do
Lecturers from Medicine, Physiotherapy, Sports Therapy and Sport, Exercise and Nutritional Sciences work concurrently to deliver our modules. You’ll have access to facilities from the School of Medicine, the divisions of Sports and Health Sciences, as well as the Sir Tom Finney Sports Centre and the UCLan Sports Arena. Optional modules include Work Based Learning or Trauma & Emergency Medical Management in Sport (TEMMiS); two modules particular to our Post Graduate Sports Medicine courses which will allow you to develop specialist skills suited for your needs.

Our programme will enable you to pursue a career in Adolescent Sports Medicine from grass roots sport to professional sport organisations.
Our Adolescent Sports Medicine graduates work as Academy Sports Medicine practitioners to provide effective long-term athletic development programmes to a variety of team and individual sports. Many work within clubs, teams and organisations to provide support to recreational, amateur and professional aspiring athletes.

Entry requirements | Applicants must have first degree (at least 2:2) in relevant subject area such as Physiotherapy, Sports Therapy, Sports Rehabilitation or Strength & Conditioning, or have completed year 3 of MBChB (MBBS) qualification | Be willing to become actively engaged in or have access to clinical experience in a Sports and Exercise Medicine practice in order to support learning within the programme | Have sufficient competency in English language (IELTS Level 6.5 or equivalent) | All suitable applicants will be interviewed. Interview procedures and decisions regarding applications will be conducted within the University’s policies on equal opportunities and admissions | Please note a satisfactory In Country Police Check and Enhanced DBS check will be required at enrolment. |
