Summary

Course overview - The MA Outdoor Practice is an innovative and flexible programme that will develop your critical understanding of theories and practice within ‘The Great Outdoors.’ Designed as a full or part time programme, you will be encouraged to experiment and research areas of your own personal interest within the outdoor sector.

  • The course is delivered over a number of weekends throughout the year with additional online support through group and one-to-one tutorials.

  • Whether a ‘newbie’ or ‘hardened professional,’ the course aims to challenge both yours and the outdoor sector’s intellectual and academic understanding through a vocational context.

  • Within the early part of the course you will develop a critical understanding of applied research methods and analysis (through the Research Methods in Outdoor Practice module) while also reflecting upon and challenging your current philosophical beliefs within the outdoor setting (Contextualising Outdoor Practice module). The later part of the course sees you embark on self-directed research in an area of your choice.

Why study with us - Flexible weekend delivery, so you can fit study around your work and other commitments.

  • Explore your personal interest, whether this be in outdoor coaching, education, environmental considerations, or health and wellbeing.

  • The teaching team are all outdoor practitioners, educators and researchers providing you with an expert and supportive learning environment.
