Course Info The Postgraduate Certificate in Education for International Trainees offers teachers based in schools outside the UK, who have not undergone a period of formal training, the opportunity to participate in a structured programme of professional development. It is the leading course of its kind available in the UK.

Starting every September, the International PGCE is a 37-week school-based course available to teachers who already have a job in a school, during which trainee teachers work under the guidance of a mentor (appointed by the school in which they work) and receive weekly tutorials to review progress and set targets. The course is available in most subjects and age levels. It is also possible for Primary teachers to specialise in a subject area.

Six one day ‘live’ training sessions plus two induction days (in late August) run by the university will be delivered online. Attendance at all these days is mandatory.

"Although I had been teaching for 8 years previously, the PGCE had a significant impact on my practice, especially engaging with the weekly programme of readings. By the end of the course, the training hadn’t just impacted on me, it had improved practice in my department and the wider school!" – Ezzat Ali, PGCE 2020.

"Who dares to teach must never cease to learn. Personally, this PGCE course through The University of Buckingham has enriched my teaching and was one of the best decisions I made to increase my professional development." – Belinda Orlandini, 2020 International PGCE Students.
