Summary
Students will become proficient in the application of data science principles to evaluate and utilise crime and security data through critical assessment, statistical interpretation and an in-depth understanding of data analytics.
**Modular (flexible) students - Some postgraduate taught and MRes programmes are available on a modular basis. Modular study lasts between 2 and 5 years. This is different to a part-time study which lasts for a fixed period.**

Entry requirements | Normally a minimum of a second-class Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline from a UK university or an overseas qualification of an equivalent standard. Relevant disciplines include science subjects and those with a significant component of statistics, mathematics or quantitative methods. For example engineering, computer science or psychology. Alternatively, candidates may qualify for entry if they can offer five or more years of relevant professional experience (for example as a data scientist, data engineer or intelligence analyst). English level: Level 3 |

Summary
This MSc provides students with a thorough understanding of how science and scientifically based techniques can deliver immediate and sustainable reductions in crime. The programme focuses on how to better apply science to understand crime problems, develop strategies for preventing them, and increase the probability of detecting and arresting offenders.
