Summary
The Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Dermatology is organised by the Centre for Cell Biology and Cutaneous Research in the Blizard Institute, and the Department of Dermatology BartsHealth. This distance learning programme covers core aspects of dermatology over the course of one academic year, with particular emphasis on the diagnosis and management of skin disease from a primary care perspective.
There are two separate but linked programmes; The UK programme is for UK based, fully GMC registered General Practitioners that are able to attend at least 4 onsite clinical days. The Overseas programme course is for doctors outside the UK or for UK based doctors unable to attend the clinical days. The course material across the 2 versions of the programme is identical and successful completion of either programme leads to the award of a Post Graduate Diploma in Clinical Dermatology from Queen Mary University of London.
The weekly teaching sessions are given by experts in the field and comprise written and audiovisual material with a summative quiz.
This course is Accredited with the Royal College of General Practitioners, Quotable in Hong Kong, Displayable in Singapore (upon application to the SMC), 20 Certified Self-Learning Mainpro+™ credits (College of Family Physicians of Canada)

Entry requirements | UUK places are capped at just 55 due to the clinical days. For this reason the UK course is generaly full by late April and so early application is strongly recommended. The UK version of the course is open to students that are fully registered with the GMC and able to commit to attend at least 4 out of 6 onsite clinical days here at the Royal London Hospital. If you are not fully GMC registered, if you are not able to attend at least 4 out of 6 clinical days, if you apply too late to claim one of the 55 UK places or if you are based overseas, then you will be best placed on the Overseas version of the course. Qualification requirements for the course are MBBS or basic medical degree from universities recognised by the University of London. Prior experience in dermatology is desirable but not essential. Access to a computer with good Internet connection is essential for undertaking the course. |
