Summary
This course is designed to equip graduates with an in-depth knowledge of forensic mental health. Students will gain a critical understanding of the academic knowledge associated with the context of practice in forensic mental health and will gain a critical appreciation of ethical, cultural, and legal issues arising from mental health practice and research. The course is aimed at students who are currently employed in / or who desire to be employed in a forensic, forensic mental health, or mental health setting, e.g. prisons; secure hospitals; the Ministry of Justice; the Police Force; and the courts. The course is designed to provide students with a combination of applied and research skills core to work in a forensic mental health setting.

Entry requirements | An undergraduate degree equivalent to a UK undergraduate Honours degree (minimum 2.2) in psychology or an allied discipline such as social science, nursing, health related practice, or law or other recognised equivalent qualification. Applicants without such qualifications will be considered on an individual basis but will be required to demonstrate how their experiences and knowledge and /or their professional qualifications (such as RMN, RN) would enable them to study this course at Masters Level in their Personal Statement. |
