This course offers an in-depth understanding of the relationships between words, pictures, and methods of communication and transmission. You will graduate with an understanding of the changing global, technological, and social context of design and the cultural role of the visual designer. Through project work, and in response to set briefs in each module, you will develop your personal graphic design practice. You will also explore the importance of research in underpinning your practice. In the final stage of the course, you will propose and develop your independent major project

– The course is taught by practicing designers, researchers in design, and visiting tutors from the industry. You will visit studios, work on live projects, and take part in competitions. – You will work with students from other design-based MA courses, benefitting from interdisciplinary methods and ways of working. – You can explore your individual interests and develop your personal practice within graphic design and contemporary visual communication.

You will graduate with skills for a graphic design career such as project brief analysis; creative use of materials; communication and presentation tools and techniques; workshop practices; and critical reflection of design practice.
