Summary

This postgraduate diploma in Conscious Sedation for Dentistry provides enhanced understanding of the processes involved in conscious sedation through knowledge of the basic sciences. The course provides a high level of clinical experience in treating patients under sedation in supervised sessions. You will learn basic techniques, with introduction to advanced approaches where required. Both practical and theoretical training is given, from initial assessment and treatment planning to delivery, recovery and discharge, for a variety of sedation techniques for dental treatment.

  • Competency-based training and clinical treatment sessions take place in the Department of Sedation and Special Care at Guy's Hospital

Course purpose The course is designed for dentists already engaged in the provision of sedation for dentistry, or planning to develop a service, as well as those involved in teaching conscious sedation techniques. It will provide practitioners with the knowledge and skills to use a wide range of conscious sedation techniques with confidence and safety.
