The two-year, part-time, postgraduate diploma in Endodontics aims to enhance the endodontic skills of newly qualified dentists and experienced practitioners. It will develop their technical, diagnostic and treatment planning skills necessary to practice modern clinical endodontics. This will be facilitated by hands-on patient treatment sessions under close supervision and laboratory sessions. Seminars will serve to increase the knowledge and understanding of the scientific basis of endodontics and to enable them to use evidence-based dentistry in clinical endodontics.
This two-year, part-time, postgraduate diploma in Endodontics comprises four modules in total as follows:
• Module 1: Applied Science of Endodontics (Part 1)
• Module 2: Clinical & Practical Skills of Endodontics (Part 1)
• Module 3: Applied Science of Endodontics (Part 2)
• Module 4: Clinical & Practical Skills of Endodontics (Part 2)
Modules 1 and 2 are taken in Year 1 and modules 3 and 4 are taken in Year 2.
In Year 1 (module 1 and 2) you will attend in total for 22 contact days (09:00 – 19:30) with additional examination day/s. Learning will combine seminars/tutorials, hands-on sessions (laboratory work), new patient clinics, and cases from practice.

It will be necessary to be working in a dental practice to facilitate you carrying out root canal treatment to present in your reflective log of work and case reports.
The course is led by Rachel Tomson, Course Director and Consultant in Endodontics. It is taught by leading experts in Endodontics and Restorative Dentistry.

Qualification and employment status
A dental qualification acceptable to the College.
Employment as a dentist in a dental practice, dental school, hospital, or community dental services environment.
Access to facilities and equipment
Adequate clinical facilities and access to patients requiring treatment relevant to your subject area.
Approved video equipment, as part of the monitoring process (advice on this will be given in the first intensive face-to-face teaching block).

Specific employment requirement
As we are seeking to identify your suitability for this clinical environment, we expect our interviewees to adopt the dress code required of clinical dental students at King's College London. Further information will be given should you choose to apply. Entry to the programme is strictly dependent upon occupational health clearance that you are able to conduct exposure prone procedures (EPPs) before you start clinical work. This will assess your hepatitis B surface antigen and hepatitis C antibody status, HIV and TB status following the completion of a health questionnaire and a further health check before or at enrolment.
