University of Nottingham
The University of Nottingham has a global reputation for academic excellence, pioneering research and employability. Over 44,500 students from more than 150 countries study at our award-winning campuses in the UK, China and Malaysia, while our global alumni community numbers over 250,000 Nottingham graduates worldwide.
A world beyond ordinary
Nottingham is ranked in the world’s top 100 universities and the UK’s top 15 by the QS World University Rankings 2018. We are a founder member of the Universitas 21 international network and the Russell Group, a group of the UK’s leading universities committed to the highest standards in teaching and research.
Our five faculties of Arts, Engineering, Medicine and Health Sciences, Science, and Social Sciences offer postgraduate masters and research degree programmes in a wide variety of subject areas.
As a postgraduate student you can receive guidance, training and support from our Graduate School. You can also develop your English language skills with English preparation courses from our Centre for English Language Education.
Scholarships for excellence
We reward excellence and encourage global development through our international scholarships for outstanding masters and research students from a wide variety of countries. Nottingham is also a popular destination for sponsored students and prestigious international scholarship winners, including Chevening Scholars.
A global reputation for research
Nottingham’s research makes an impact around the world. This is where the MRI scanner was invented; where you’ll find the world’s largest group of human rights scholars; and where the answers to global food security are being unearthed. Our academics have received Nobel Prizes in medicine (Sir Peter Mansfield, 2003), economics (Sir Clive Granger, 2003) and chemistry (Sir Fraser Stoddart, 2016).
The latest Research Excellence Framework (2014) ranked Nottingham 8th in the UK for research power, with more than 97% of research recognized internationally, while more than 80% of Nottingham’s research is ranked as ‘world-leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’.
Kick-start your career
Our students and alumni benefit from lifelong careers support during their studies and after graduation. There are opportunities for placements and internships during your postgraduate course too.
Nottingham graduates are targeted by leading employers in the UK and around the world. It’s no surprise that Nottingham is a world top 60 university in the QS Graduate Employability Rankings 2017 and is the University of the Year for Graduate Employment in The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2017.
Life beyond the lecture theatre
You can be sure of a warm welcome at Nottingham’s campuses, which offer excellent facilities for study, leisure, sport and faith. Explore them in our 360-degree virtual campus tour.
There are more than 300 student-run societies and sports clubs at Nottingham, including many national, cultural and faith societies.
Beyond the University, Nottingham is a compact and vibrant city with plenty to explore: historic buildings, cosmopolitan restaurants, cultural festivals, music events, museums and art galleries, sports venues and cinemas, theatres, nightclubs and bars. The city’s central location, only two hours from London by train, and excellent transport links also make it an ideal base for exploring the UK.
