Why study MA Diasporic Dance Styles The MA in Diasporic Dance Styles programme aims to address a historical gap in the educational study of dance and the employability market for dance graduates through the teaching of non-Eurocentric movement arts.
You will be supported to reach your full potential as a dance artist working within diasporic dance styles and contexts globally. Through the programme, you will:

Develop, extend, and enrich your embodied knowledge and understanding of Diasporic Dance Styles

Undertake independently focused practice research, in the areas of choreography, dance pedagogy, community and public performance, production, and dance management

Develop your practice as a maker, performer, pedagogue, producer, and policy change advocate for dance in the twenty-first century

Have access to a global online learning community through a blended teaching approach that supports you in developing your own agency as an artist

Learn key theories, participate in discussions and undertake an active dance practice to hone your practice’s voice

Critically evaluate existing theories and frameworks for dance, with an awareness of the potential for transformation and change within your own professional practice
