Why study MA Diasporic Dance Styles The MA in Diasporic Dance Styles programme aims to address a historical gap in the educational study of dance and the employability market for dance graduates through the teaching of non-Eurocentric movement arts.

  • Develop, extend, and enrich your embodied knowledge and understanding of Diasporic Dance Styles

  • Undertake independently focused practice research, in the areas of choreography, dance pedagogy, community and public performance, production, and dance management

  • Develop your practice as a maker, performer, pedagogue, producer, and policy change advocate for dance in the twenty-first century

  • Have access to a global online learning community through a blended teaching approach that supports you in developing your own agency as an artist

  • Learn key theories, participate in discussions and undertake an active dance practice to hone your practice’s voice

  • Critically evaluate existing theories and frameworks for dance, with an awareness of the potential for transformation and change within your own professional practice
