The Faculty of Science and Engineering offers a full portfolio of postgraduate programmes spanning a wide range of subjects within three schools, all supported by world-leading academics and technical staff.
We can offer you a wide variety of postgraduate taught and research-based programmes, each one with a different emphasis. Some provide you with the essentials required to embark on a research career in academia or beyond; while others offer you career-boosting skills, expertise and experience.
The University is renowned for our research in areas such as marine and environmental science, medicine, robotics and psychology and is committed to enhancing the student experience of research informed teaching. We were recipients of the Queen's Anniversary Prize for our research in marine plastics pollution in 2019. Ranked 1st in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings for SDG14: Life Below Water, reflecting the international reputations of outstanding marine and maritime teaching, research and innovation. Nearly two-thirds of our submissions to the most recent Research Excellence Framework was rated as ‘world leading’ or of ‘international quality’.

The Sustainable Earth Institute is about promoting a new way of thinking about the future of our world. It brings researchers together with businesses, community groups and individuals to develop cutting-edge research and innovative approaches that build resilience to global challenges.
