University of Liverpool: Communication and Media
The Department of Communication and Media is a leading centre for the study of how ideas are influenced, expressed and shared. An interest in contemporary communications is at the heart of our enterprise, though always with a focus on how media (from print journalism, online and social communication to film, radio and TV) deploy their affordances to communicative and social effect.
We maintain exciting partnerships with industry, the arts and key creative venues in Liverpool, nationally and internationally. These include organisations such as BBC, Ofcom, UNESCO, British Council, Liverpool City Council, Science Museum Group, FACT, Tate Liverpool, Civic Data Cooperative (CDC), Geographic Data Science Lab, The Pandemic Institute, and the NIHR Mental Health Research for Innovation Centre (M-RIC)).
Why Liverpool?
What better place to immerse yourself in the subject than Liverpool, a city with a reputation as a political and creative force, with a thriving production sector and a unique cultural heritage? The Department has close links to cultural industries and venues in the city, some of which collaborate with us in offering assessed work placements as part of our programme of study.
