The Division of Computing, Engineering and Mathematical Sciences
The Division of Computing, Engineering and Mathematical Sciences at the University of Kent covers a wide range of subjects, each School has its own subject-specific research culture and a strong tradition of interdisciplinary research. Postgraduate study is offered at our UK campus in Canterbury which is within easy reach of London.
The Division has close relationships with businesses and other partners which range from industrial placements to strategic consulting. The Division is committed to blending research and teaching in innovative ways that enhance the academic experience.
Postgraduate programmes
The division is known for the quality of its teaching, and for the interdisciplinary nature of its programmes and research. We understand that postgraduate students need flexibility, so many of our taught and all of our research degrees offer September or January starts. Kent offers Master’s in cyber security, computer science, artificial intelligence, statistical data science, mathematics and many other subjects, as well as PhD study in Engineering.
We also offer a selection of conversion programmes within the division to develop your skills and improve your career prospects.

Multimillion-pound postgraduate scholarship fund
To support you as you expand your knowledge and develop your ideas, we offer a range of funding opportunities. These include taught and research student scholarships, location-specific awards, and funding specifically for students who pay overseas fees. We also have doctoral training partnerships with several bodies, which give you access to a range of funding, these include the UK Research Councils, such as Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC)

Our Graduate and Researcher College helps to create a caring, stimulating intellectual and social environment. The dedicated team ensures our students have access to the resources they need, including study hubs exclusively for postgrads, running a series of training programmes, workshops and events to help you further develop transferrable and specialist skills to support your research and employability.

AI scholarship funding
The School of Computing is delighted to offer £10,000 scholarships for students accepted on the Computer Science (Artificial Intelligence) conversion Master's in 2023-24. The 16 scholarships aim to encourage more graduates to launch a career in the growing field of AI and to improve the diversity of the workforce.
