UCL Engineering has a proud heritage of disruptive thinking, a reputation for game-changing research, and a unique multidisciplinary approach to problem solving. The complexity of today’s societies means that engineers deal with an incredible range of challenges, ideas and techniques. Many essential technologies originated from studies and work at UCL, including the rapid production of vaccines, fibre-optic communications (for which a share of the 2009 Nobel Prize in Physics was awarded) and the Internet infrastructure.

Sustainable Engineering at UCL
As we face environmental challenges and the need for a greener future, the role of engineering in achieving sustainability cannot be underestimated. Home to 10 departments with a stake in the sustainability game, we take a multi- and interdisciplinary perspective to the field. Mechanical, Chemical, Electronic and Electrical, Biomedical Engineers, Computer Sciences, Business and Responsible Finance experts (and more!) come together at UCL Engineering to progress research with sustainability in mind.
At UCL Engineering, we understand that tomorrow's engineers will need to use innovative technologies and techniques to promote sustainable practice. This is why we embed sustainability in all our teaching, and we boast a range of MSc, MRes and MPA programmes that focus specifically on sustainable engineering.
