Who we are
Opening in 2021, the new School of Digital Arts (SODA) is a purpose-built, interdisciplinary school at Manchester Metropolitan University, one of the UK’s largest universities.
It is a £35m investment into the future of storytelling – supporting the growing demand for skilled workers in the creative digital and tech sector.
The School will provide state-of-the-art facilities, workshops and professional networks, alongside teaching and research environment to create the next generation of creative digital practitioners.
Location
We are located in the heart of Manchester – one of the largest digital tech hubs outside of London. While studying with us you will be joining an area that is widely recognised as a national and international media hub, home to MediaCityUK, the BBC and ITV Granada, as well as a thriving creative and cultural scene.
Our Courses
Offering an interdisciplinary approach, we offer courses in film, photography, sound design, documentary, gaming and emergent technologies. At SODA, you’ll study programmes which are grounded in the present, but offer the space to explore the future.
Facilities
Our brand new school is purpose-built for today’s fast-moving creative and digital sectors. Offering spaces for collaboration and innovation, together with state-of-the-art facilities, the building has been created with the capability to adapt and respond to emerging technologies.
Equipped with the latest technology, it will enable you to develop industry-standard skills for creating and researching content across the latest digital platforms. It’s a place that offers the opportunity to collaborate with a dynamic creative community of sound designers, filmmakers, photographers, game developers and more.
