Manchester School of Architecture is an innovative collaboration between Manchester Metropolitan University and The University of Manchester.
We offer a range of professionally recognised postgraduate and research degrees, providing the opportunity to hone your skills to become a qualified architect at a school that is currently ranked seventh in the world (QS World Rankings 2018).
We are have more than 100 years’ experience, over 35 experts in their architectural fields and more than 700 students from over 50 countries producing creative and challenging work and research in the heart of Manchester.
The MArch is a lively student centred environment, where peer-to-peer learning, practise based research and live events projects connect students, expert academics, design professionals and wider communities.
MA Architecture and Urbanism allows you to study and conduct in-depth research into the influence of global, cultural and economic forces on contemporary cities. The design, functioning and future of urban situations is explored in written, drawn and modelled work throughout this course.
Our architecture students benefit from the facilities and resources of both Manchester Metropolitan University and The University of Manchester. We have a wide range of facilities to enable you to fulfil your ambitious creative vision, including model-making workshops, photography and editing suites, print and metal workshops and material stores.

We have deep roots the city of Manchester, where nationally and internationally renowned architects have been educated for over 100 years. Striking buildings around the city are testament to our rich architectural history that continues with the researchers, individuals and internationally renowned architectural practices who call the city home.
A global University
Manchester Metropolitan University is home to a diverse international student population, with students from over 120 countries at our University campus in the centre of Manchester.
We have welcomed international students into our University for many years and are here to support you throughout your time with us. We have specialist teams in our dedicated International Office who can help with your application and visa, your arrival at Manchester Metropolitan, English language support and anything else that you need.
Scholarships and fees
We are committed to recognising high-achieving students and offer scholarships to our international students of up to £5,000. For more information, visit our international fees and funding page.
Our international student fees are competitive; most of our Postgraduate taught masters are £15,500 - £16,500 for non-EU students. Please note that some courses have different fees, to see tuition fees for your specific course, visit mmu.ac.uk/courses.
