Bangor University
School of Music

Bangor University’s hugely popular Masters programmes in Music enable you to fine-tune your skills, knowledge and experience in your own area of specialism.

Musicologists will have the opportunity to strengthen their grasp of academic approaches to studying music in its cultural contexts, while building direct practical experience of researching repertoires and topics of their own choice.

Composers will hone their technique and creativity in the styles and genres most appropriate to their own compositional voice, and will be introduced to the concept of composition as research.

If you are performer, you will refine your technique and widen your repertoire, developing your understanding of how performing interfaces with musicology and composition, and you will have many opportunities to perform in a wide range of events and venues.

Our innovative Masters programme in Music with Education will lead you to a deeper understanding of contemporary approaches to music teaching, while also enabling you to develop your own skills in musicology, composition or performance.

At Bangor you will part of a vibrant community of composers, scholars and musicians from all over the world, benefitting from the opportunities to share ideas and creativity across different modes of musical activity.

Professional-standard facilities
Our facilities are world-class, including five state-of-the-art electroacoustic studios, unique archival and library collections, 24-hour practice facilities, superb instruments, and magnificent concert halls.
