This is a fast-paced course covering a wide variety of both strategic and operational content, helping you to be workplace-ready when you graduate. The emphasis is on professionalism and management, and you’ll have many opportunities for exposure to businesses in the hospitality and tourism sectors.

Studying here at our campus in central London means you’ll be surrounded by a huge variety of hotels and attractions, including some of the most iconic in the world, catering to all tastes and cultures. London is the second-most visited city in the world after Bangkok, attracting over 19 million overseas visitors in 2016 – so you’ll have countless opportunities to immerse yourself in the travel and tourism industries.

Your learning will be very much applied, ensuring that it relates directly to your chosen industries and to the workplace, and your tutors will work hard to create opportunities for experiential learning. Teaching and assessments are often work-based, including case studies, simulations, presentations, live projects for clients, work experience, field trips, company visits, and guest lectures from organisations such as tour operators and leading hotel chains.

The course curriculum has been designed in consultation with industry to ensure that you’ll graduate with the type of skills employers are looking for. It has also been accredited by the Chartered Management Institute: students who pass two specific modules can be awarded the CMI Level 7 Certificate in Strategic Management and Leadership (providing they register as a CMI member and pay the membership fees). The CMI is internationally recognised as the professional body which sets the standards in management.

The tourism and hospitality industries touch every part of the globe, triggering a wide range of responses, opportunities and challenges. This course draws on international case studies and offers opportunities to engage with global organisations, helping you learn to respond to issues faced by businesses which trade internationally as well as multi-nationals and companies based in other countries.

You’ll be taught by highly qualified tutors with extensive career experience in the tourism and/or hospitality industries. They will draw on this experience to illustrate your learning with practical examples, and use their excellent network of contacts for arranging guest lectures and talks, internships and consultancy opportunities.
