Summary

he specialist MBA in Leadership and Management in Healthcare attract applicants who are experienced in clinical and organisational leadership positions, and those individuals who aspire to more senior leadership positions. At a time of major changes in healthcare in the United Kingdom and across the world, the programme will facilitate career development opportunities for those working in health care within the public, private and independent sectors in the United Kingdom and abroad.

As a potential student, you will come onto this programme with relevant work experience that you can apply to practice areas. This programme builds on your previous experience and develops reflective insights to enhance organisational outcomes. Such a programme provides health practitioners with an opportunity to develop their leadership and management skills as well as to enhance their interprofessional practice. The programme will address healthcare issues from global, interprofessional, multi-disciplinary, business-oriented and person centred perspectives.

This programme was designed as a collaborative partnership between Christ Church Business School in the Faculty of Social and Applied Sciences and the Faculty of Health and Wellbeing. The Faculty of Health and Wellbeing is a leading provider of health education in Kent with a particular focus on interprofessional collaboration, workplace learning and evaluative action research. Both Faculties have worked together to design the core modules for business and healthcare that is evidenced-based, person-centred, and research informed. In 2011 this innovative programme was designed and validated as a route into the Executive MBA market to address a niche section of the Public sector, namely healthcare. The shared rationale for the collaborative programme remains valid. In Healthcare increasing numbers of professionals at all levels are required to have the knowledge and skills to lead and manage complex change in rapidly shifting global industry environments. The programme has so far attracted experienced local leaders and professionals working in the field of healthcare for the public, private, non-profit and independent sectors.
