If you want a modern Masters in Civil Engineering degree that satisfies the academic requirements for chartered status, this course is for you. You will advance your analytical and IT skills as you build practical experience in the core subject areas of civil engineering, including:
- analysis and design of structures
- construction management.
Our MSc Civil Engineering is based at the School of Computing and Engineering. You will be taught by staff with both industrial and academic experience, who will help you to develop your understanding of current issues as well as your practical skills.

You will need an honours degree (minimum 2:2) in Civil Engineering or other relevant/similar Engineering qualification at equivalent level.
An ordinary degree (i.e. BSc/BEng without honours) in relevant Engineering areas may be considered. The decision will be on an individual basis based on appropriate experience and/or the obtained grade of the degree (e.g. first-class) and the course content.
International students need to meet our English language requirement at IELTS 6.5 or above, and a minimum of 5.5 for each of the 4 individual components (Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening).
