Summary
We offer research supervision in a wide range of subdisciplines of English language and linguistics. We welcome projects on any variety of English and are able to supervise the description and analysis of a range of languages.
We particularly welcome applications in the areas of:
- descriptive grammar (including typological approaches) and/or theoretical syntax
- discourse analysis (especially political and media discourse, discourse of identity, corpus linguistic approaches)
- language variation and change
- morphology, phonology, orthography
- pragmatics (including intercultural pragmatics and im/politeness)
- semantics, lexicology, (meta)lexicography
- stylistics.
We understand that deciding where and what to study is a very important decision. We’ll make all reasonable efforts to provide you with the courses, services and facilities described in this prospectus.
