Summary
Are you ready to take the next step in your career in occupational health, safety and environmental management? This part-time distance learning program offers opportunities through two distinct pathways: MSc and MRes.
As an MSc student, you’ll complete taught modules during the first year and the initial semester of the second year, ending with a six-month research dissertation. On the other hand, as an MRes student, your emphasis will be on research methodology modules, paving the way for a 12-month, 120-credit research project centred around workplace-related topics in your field.
With our core modules, you’ll flex your skills in research methods, literature review, and research project design. MSc students will explore fundamental subjects such as advanced health, safety and environmental risk management and CSR in health, safety and environmental management.
You’ll also have the flexibility to select additional modules in areas such as disaster management, safety assessment, flood risk, and mental health at work.
Previous students have come from diverse organisations, including BAE Systems, the oil and gas industry, emergency services, NHS, and renewable energy sectors.
Level | RQF Level 7 |
---|---|
Entry requirements | Either a science or management-based Bachelors degree (2:2) or international equivalent, or at least one of the following: NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or Environmental Management |
Location | The University of Hull Cottingham Road Hull HU6 7RX |
Summary
These Masters-level programmes in Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental Management have been created to address the important need for up-skilling employees in advanced, specialist topics in health, safety and environmental management.
They are the only courses of their kind created with and endorsed by NEBOSH at Masters-level, and offer those already working in industry and holding a NEBOSH diploma or BSc the chance to enhance their skills and techniques. Studying these courses will help students identify and resolve real issues relating to them in their day-to-day roles - enhanced by the final dissertation, which is written on a research project from their own work.
The programmes are completely employer focused, using current employment to evidence achievement, and are studied part-time using e-learning modules to enable study anywhere in the UK or overseas. There are three specific pathways that can be chosen: Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental Management; Occupational Health and Safety Management; or Environmental Management. Each pathway can be studied either as a taught MSc or as a more research-focused MRes, making it easier to tailor the course to individual needs and study-styles.
