Summary
Globalisation and recent wars dramatise the enduring importance of world affairs to government, economics and people’s lives.
If you are interested in a career focusing on global politics, this programme is for you. It is aimed at degree-holders with an interest in the theory and practice of world politics.
The degree aims to impart a broad and balanced knowledge of international relations theory at an advanced level. It provides core training in political analysis and methodology of the social sciences. It examines contemporary global problems and rival approaches to their solution and offers specialisation in particular areas such as foreign policy analysis, global society, regional integration, global environmental politics, and strategic and security studies.
This MA prepares graduates for careers in media, academia, non-governmental organisations, international business, research think-tanks and government foreign service.

| Entry requirements | This programme is designed for graduates from any discipline with a strong interest in International Politics. However, we do recommend that you have a basic knowledge and understanding of this area. You should have a minimum of a 2:2 Honours degree (or international equivalent) and a good level of English Language. In order to ensure our students have a rich learning and student experience, most of our programmes have a mix of domestic and international students. We reserve the right to close applications early to either group, if application volumes suggest that this blend cannot be achieved. In addition, existing undergraduate students at the University of Hull have a guaranteed ‘Fast Track’ route to any postgraduate programme, subject to meeting the entry criteria. |
