This course is for those already in leadership positions in education, and those who aspire to leadership roles. The course tackles issues directly related to the current field of national and international education. It challenges you to develop deeper critical thinking around how to meet the needs of policy and the needs of your students and staff. You will work through the process of initiating and driving change at an individual, group and/or organisational level. You will also learn how to adapt your communication strategies and techniques for developing new behaviours and attitudes. In short, the course aims to equip you with the skills to lead the development of others.
Candidates will engage in a wide range of leadership theory, and learn how theory translates into practice through the different course learning objectives and tasks.
The course offers opportunities on how to lead change effectively, how to employ coaching and mentoring as a change agent, and how to reflect on leadership and practice with a wide range of academic research in mind.
The course offers opportunities for learners to develop a clear and detailed understanding of their wider community, contexts, policies and socio-economic factors at play, which need to be considered when leading and supporting others.
Candidates engage with a wide range of others to discuss, evaluate, and critique academic research to explore a wide range of viewpoints to extend their practice further.
The MA Leadership in Education is a rich and varied course offering opportunities for leaders at all levels, and a wide range of academic contexts.

Applicants must have a degree (normally honours, normally 2:2 or better) awarded by a UK University or a recognised degree equivalent qualification and have proficiency in English equivalent to IELTS 7.0. All students should already be in employment. Overall IELTS 7.0 with a minimum of 6.5 in writing, speaking, reading and listening (or recognised equivalent).
