Summary

Provide research skills training for students entering PhD programmes within Humanities, Social Science and Law to ensure they have the skills to complete their PhDs successfully and by the end date.

Knowledge and understanding - Critical understanding of research skills, relevant to the student and the research project

  • Critical knowledge of research design, research methods, and research analysis, as appropriate for the student and the research project

  • Critical knowledge of discipline-specific research skills, as appropriate to the student and the research project

  • Critical awareness of current research skills related issues in the discipline, as appropriate for the student and the research project

  • Continue to advance knowledge and understanding, as relevant to the student and the research project

Subject-specific practical and intellectual skills and attributes - Skills in research design, methods and analysis, as required for the student and the research project

  • Discipline-specific skills, as appropriate to the student and the research project area and project

  • Skills in IT software applications, as relevant to the student and the research project

  • Communicate effectively, in different formats, with peers and staff

  • Identify and conceptualise research skills related issues and problems, as relevant to student and the research project
