Couple your zest for sport with our highly-rated PGCE Secondary Education in PE and become a physical education teacher. You will learn the National Curriculum framework and explore a range of aesthetic, artistic, body management and body conditioning activities, as well as a diverse range of team and individual games to develop young people’s sporting techniques.

And, our tutors will support you to plan, resource and deliver engaging lessons to all secondary pupils, regardless of their age or ability.

Why Choose University of Cumbria Our PGCE Secondary Education: PE is based at Kirkbie Kendal School, Kendal, so you will get more than 50% of your teacher training in a school, giving you essential first-hand experience into teaching.

It also means that you will be able to get involved directly with sports teams, gaining a wealth of experience managing outdoor and indoor PE classes.

Our PGCE Secondary Education in PE falls in line with the Department for Education (DfE) guidelines, so you can expect to do a minimum of 120 days in schools giving you the essential hands-on experience you need for future employment.

You will start by working with individual groups of pupils in school and gradually build up to the teaching of whole classes to reach the required standard of professional practice.
