Summary
The course combines the study of global and imperial history with the study of Asian, African and Latin American histories. It draws upon the knowledge of faculty members in each of these areas, as well as in Middle Eastern, Oceanic and American history. The course enables students to develop expertise in this rich and expanding field of historical scholarship. The core course focuses on historiographical debates in world history, leading to 2 options, usually in the history of a world region. Students will also take language classes, a component that is required but not examined; this may be in any language offered from within the university's language center.

Entry requirements | Applicants should have a 1st Class degree or a high Upper 2nd degree from a UK university with a minimum average in the final year of 67 per cent; or the equivalent from a university outside the UK. Candidates will normally be expected to have taken a substantial number of history courses at university level and to have a sound background in the period covered by the course. IELTS score of 7.5. |
