Supervision is available in all the main areas of classical studies; regular research seminars are held in: Greek and Latin literature; philosophy; history; art and archaeology; philology and linguistics; interdisciplinary approaches to the ancient world. Classes are provided in research skills, for example: epigraphy; palaeography; numismatics; students are encouraged to undertake fieldwork abroad, and the faculty offers grants for travel to classical lands.
