Summary
The part-time EdD is aimed at professional practitioners and those in related fields (e.g. policy, support or management), who are committed to extending their understanding and improving practice. Applicants for the EdD course usually include teachers, school leaders, university staff and those working in related educational fields. Through their research students seek to generate, develop and disseminate professional knowledge and support innovation that will have social and educational impact. The EdD is not a distance learning programme.
There will be a programme of research methods training over the course of the programme. Students will attend specially tailored sessions within the wider EdD community, as well as one-to-one supervisions with an academic whose expert interests link with the area in which they are conducting their research. Throughout their studies, students are encouraged to play an active role in research seminars, engage in opportunities for acquiring transferable skills and to disseminate research findings to the wider educational domain.
