This is a self-contained course; it can also serve as a prerequisite for a PhD; the core course covers: the classical tradition; reason and scepticism in the 18th century; sensibility and the novel; literature and visual culture; romanticism and revolution; the long poem; romantic aesthetics and gender; period classes (1740-1750 and 1814-1824); resources for research class; dissertation; in addition to the course fee (university composition fee) students may have to pay a college fee.
