Summary
This new part-time online programme will provide you with the next step towards a career in creating and planning of sustainable urban environments. It is a fully supported online programme with great flexibility to earn while you learn, giving you the ability to study anywhere in the world.
From this programme, you will gain key technical literacy and critical practical skills that will allow you to apply your knowledge to real-world scenarios. You can expect to upskill your sustainable urban development understanding, boost your leadership and collaboration skills, and improve your standing and reputation within your organisation.
This new programme is designed to align with the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) requirements for chartered membership. Accreditation from RICS and RTPI will be sought by UCEM at the earliest opportunity.
This programme is perfect for you if:
- You are a built environment professional, ready to specialise or transition to a career in urban/regional planning
- You are passionate about sustainability and want to make a difference at a community development, and wider society level
- You are a university graduate with a degree and/or interest in land-related topics, considering a career in the built environment

Entry requirements | Entrants to this programme are normally* required to have attained one of the following: •A bachelor’s degree with honours at lower second standard (2:2), or equivalent •A bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, plus experience in a relevant field •A Level 5 qualification as defined by the Framework for Higher Education Qualifications for England, Wales and Northern Ireland (FHEQ) plus five years’ relevant experience •A professional qualification plus five years’ relevant experience And one of the following: •Grade C or above in English (Language or Literature) at GCSE or its equivalent •Grade 6.0 or above, with at least 6.5 in the reading and writing modules, in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) test administered by the British Council in the Social Sciences academic module •88 or above in the Internet option, 230 or above in the computer-based option or 570 or above in the paper-based option, of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) •Grade C or above in Use of English at A/S Level Note: applicants with a Bachelor’s degree that has been taught and examined in the English medium can be considered for entry in the absence of the qualifications detailed above. |
