Summary
The Master of Engineering Management draws on resources from engineering, business and behavioural sciences in a programme designed to bridge the divide between engineering and management. It provides students an opportunity to broaden their horizons outside specialist technical areas, which enables them to make significant contributions to their companies.
Participants will gain a deep understanding of the world of engineering management by covering a wide range of business topics, from cost analysis to finance and corporate strategy.
Participants will acquire conceptual and practical skills that will enable them to operate at the highest level in the global knowledge economy, drawing on the engineering, business and human sciences aspects of the programme.
Our students are strongly motivated by career ambitions. The programme provides an opportunity to widen horizons outside specialist technical areas many of our students experience career advancement either during the programme or after completion.
Over the years, students from a variety of professional backgrounds have participated in the programme. Engineers of all disciplines, science and information technology graduates from across the third level institutions in Ireland and abroad have taken part. The company and industry sector backgrounds of those participating illustrates the diverse professional backgrounds of participants. These industry sectors include Pharmaceutical, Medical Technology, ICT, Manufacturing, Food, Engineering Consulting and Services, Transportation, Public Services.
The MEM is undertaken on a part-time basis over two academic years (four semesters). Each semester contains 12 weeks of teaching. The programme is delivered in a blended format, comprising on campus classes (4 weeks) and on-line classes (8 weeks). On campus classes take place all day Friday in weeks 1, 4, 8 and 12 of each semester. On-line classes take place on Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings in the other weeks of each semester.
On campus days classes will take place between 09.00-18.00 at the UCD Belfield campus.
Online classes will take place on Friday afternoons from 14.00 and Saturday mornings 09.00-13.00.
