Summary
Combining innovative approaches to applied drama and contemporary performance practice, this course works with individuals in small group to make performances that break boundaries. Whether you’re interested in applied performance, arts and disability, performance and conflict resolution, or contemporary practice, this course will develop skills, knowledge, and experience.
The course includes a placement with a professional organisation of your choice and has close links with industry, including Theatre and Dance NI. It engages directly with the creative industries and related fields of employment. There are opportunities to work across discipline boundaries.
Our subject team of internationally recognised academics is committed to creating links between the course and the creative industries through placement experiences, visiting workshops, and talks by visiting professionals. You will also have the support of the university’s Careers and Employability team.
As well as preparing you for a variety of employment areas within the creative and cultural industries, the work on personal development planning and entrepreneurship creates learning opportunities that directly support you in maximising your career potential.

Entry requirements | Applicants must normally have gained a second class honours degree or better, and provide evidence of competence in written and spoken English (GCSE grade C or equivalent). In exceptional circumstances, where an individual has substantial and significant experiential learning, and a portfolio of written evidence demonstrating the meeting of graduate qualities (including subject-specific outcomes, as determined by the Course Committee) may be considered as an alternative entrance route.
