Summary
This course aims to provide those working in the field of maritime education with the tools to deliver maritime education and training to a global workforce.
During this two-year course, you'll gain a systematic and in-depth understanding of the global maritime education framework and develop a comprehensive understanding of educational theories, practices and application within the challenging and changing environment of maritime education. You'll also develop the knowledge, skills and specialist expertise to enhance professional practice and support educators across the maritime industry.
You will also develop your communication skills, enhance problem solving and technical skills, and fine tune your written and verbal skills through the use of presentations; creating videos, portfolios, or posters; designing a teaching plan; and writing essays and reports.
This is a distance learning course - materials and structured content will be available on the Solent Online Learning (SOL) platform, with directed learning available 24/7 for you to review, consider, and prepare for collaborative learning sessions which are held via Teams.
The taught provision will compose of a series of online modules. Each module will comprise several topics delivered as bite size chunks of learning. The subjects studied and subsequent credits gained at each level build onto deeper learning and higher qualifications.
This course is for: The Maritime Education and Training master’s programme is suited to maritime educators who wish to enhance their professional practice in the field of maritime education. Applicants should ideally have worked in the maritime field, either at sea or ashore.

Entry requirements | * A PGC in a relevant discipline, or an equivalent university qualification * Applicants who do not have English as their first language will be required to demonstrate an approved level of proficiency in the use of the English language. The agreed minimum requirements for this course are: - IELTS minimum 6.5 overall with no component score below 5.5 Qualifications are checked before enrolment, and international students must bring their original certificates or certified copies when coming to study at the University. Applicants must also have substantial directly relevant professional experience. |
