This course is moving into one of our new buildings at City campus. Teaching will mainly be delivered at our Collegiate campus until December 2024 while we get our new facilities ready. From January 2025 you will study in brand new facilities at City campus.

Course summary

  • Learn generic and specialised skills including learning brain-behaviour relation and underlying neurophysiological mechanisms and theories

  • Gain hands-on experience with various techniques including EEG, TMS, fMRI recording and analysis, IQ and other clinical psychometric assessments

Designed for graduates of psychology and other related disciplines (biomedical sciences, neuroscience, psychophysiology), this course introduces you to various topics in cognitive neuroscience, normal and abnormal development of perceptual and higher level cognitive functions across the lifespan.

Applied learning Live projects There is the possibility to gain research experience (subject to availability) such as writing a literature review, data collection and analysis by working on a research project alongside a member of academic staff.

Sheffield Community Brain Injury Rehabilitation Team (SCBIRT) offers occasional visits and other learning opportunities with limited places.

Field trips You have the opportunity to attend workshops run by experts from relevant professions and fields of work. Examples include private clinical consultants, NHS neuropsychologist, teaching staff from the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology course at the University of Sheffield and alumni from our course working in academia and the private sector.
